For paid subscribers, I have promised to discuss books that have shaped me over the decades. I’ll get to that eventually—it’s summer, which means lots of time with kids and grandkids. In the meantime, I will point to articles that in one way or another describe or put in perspective our social/historical/political moment—articles I found thought provoking. I will point to items that make me wonder, “How might this unfolding or present reality, or this perspective, shape how we should live? How might we pray, serve, and evangelize?” Most importantly, “Where is Jesus in the midst of all that’s going on around us, and what is he up to?”
I present these without comment as I’m not attempting to make a point, to drive a political conversation, to rage, or to bless, but because I believe they can help us think prayerfully about the world we’re in, but not meant to be of.
